Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) was a Danish musician, often seen as his country闂備胶鍋ㄩ崕鏌ユ偘 greatest composer, who now occupies a distinguished platform in the national and cultural heritage of his native land. The Carl Nielsen Edition is an independent project which aims to publish all of his finished works, in the version last approved by the composer. Each piece has an introduction which tells the story behind the work and its place in his oeuvre, and a critical commentary which gives an account of the source material and any editorial changes, both given in the same volume as the music. Chamber Music 1 contains the first (chronological) half of his chamber music: Prelude, Theme and Variations for Solo Violin, op.48; Preludio E Presto for Solo Violin, op. 52; Quartet for Two Violins, Viola and Cello in G Minor, op.13; Quartet for Two Violins, Viola and Cello in F Minor, op.5; Quartet for Two Violins, Viola and Cello in E Flat Major, op.14; Quartet for Two Violins, Viola and Cello in F Major, op. 44; Quintet for Two Violins, Two Violas and Cello.
